How to merge
games with AI.
Start with a small, supported crossover—not the promise of dropping two entire games into a blender.
What “merging games” actually means
A game mashup usually moves one part of a game into another: a character, a mechanic, a map or a weapon. It may be a conventional hand-built mod, an independent recreation, or a project made with AI-assisted coding. Those are different things.
An AI coding assistant can help produce scripts, examine supported modding interfaces and explain errors. It does not automatically make two engines compatible, grant rights to assets, or ensure that generated code is safe.
1. Choose an existing, documented project
If you want to play rather than build, begin with an original project page. Our mashup index separates author downloads, platform listings and disclosed AI assistance. A video is evidence of a demonstration, not evidence that a usable installer exists.
Isaac Survivors is a concrete example: the source specifies Vampire Survivors 1.16.107 or newer, a Steam installation of The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, and AI assistance from Claude Code. Those are the author’s claims; we have not installed the mod.
2. Check what you legally own and what is supported
- Confirm the required game editions, versions, operating system and mod loader.
- Read the games’ terms, modding guidelines and the project’s license. Owning a game does not give you permission to redistribute its assets.
- Back up saves and use a separate modding profile where supported.
- Avoid modifications in anti-cheat-protected online sessions unless the publisher explicitly permits them.
3. For building, define one small interaction
“Add a portal-style traversal mechanic to my own sandbox” is a more useful brief than “merge Mario and Portal.” Use your own assets or assets you are licensed to modify. Start in an engine or modding environment with documented APIs.
A scoped brief for a coding assistant
I am building a single-player prototype with assets I own. Help me add one portal-style traversal mechanic using my engine’s documented API. First list the required engine version, permissions and test plan. Do not download or redistribute third-party game assets. Ask before modifying game installations or running generated scripts.
4. Treat platform instructions as version-specific
Melty’s homepage describes an AI-assisted creation workflow and says its mashups use games you already own. Use the platform’s current official instructions rather than copying unverified commands from a repost. Its homepage claims about safety, setup and availability are platform claims, not an independent audit by us.
We do not provide a universal mod generator, install mods on your machine or promise that an arbitrary pair of games can be combined.
5. Test before you trust—or share
Read code and requested permissions before running it. Test in a disposable development setup when possible. Check startup, save integrity, performance and removal. Keep a known-good backup. Stop if an installer asks to disable antivirus or requests unrelated credentials.
If you publish your own project, disclose supported versions, dependencies, asset permissions, known limitations and whether AI assisted development. Do not present a concept video as a playable release.
Frequently asked questions
Can AI merge any two games?
No. Engines, assets, licenses, runtime requirements and available modding interfaces determine what is feasible. AI-generated code still needs review and testing.
Do I need both original games?
It depends on the project. Check its requirements. The Melty projects listed here say they load assets from your own installed games. A standalone recreation may have different requirements and legal considerations.
Is every game mashup AI-made?
No. Mari0 and NucleDoom are included as traditional crossover examples, not AI-provenance evidence. We only apply the AI-assisted label when an individual project discloses it.
Are the downloads safe?
We do not audit third-party binaries and cannot guarantee safety. Our links go to the original sources we checked. Review the current files, instructions and permissions yourself.
